Got a novel or memoir idea… but no idea what it is yet?

You might be right at the beginning and have just a flicker of an idea

Or maybe you’ve written 10 or 20K words, and now you’re staring into the void

Either way, what you don’t have is a clear, working shape

Let’s fix that

You know what’s worse than not writing? Writing 30K words you have to delete

This program helps you slow down just enough to get clear on what you're trying to do

Over five weeks, you’ll:

  • Find the shape of your story (before you hit a wall)
  • Develop a strong protagonist and a satisfying arc
  • Stress-test your idea so you don’t commit to the wrong book
  • Build a flexible outline (that still leaves room for surprise)
  • Write with more confidence and more calm (thanks to 21 days of short daily pep talks to keep you going)

You’ll get:

--> 5 live coaching calls (45–60 mins on Zoom)
Not lectures, we write together. These are guided sessions with generative prompts to unlock your story and build momentum (yes, it's recorded)

--> A secret podcast feed
Daily under-3-minute motivational mini-lessons delivered straight to your ears for 21 days. Like having a tiny, helpful writer friend who lives in your headphones and believes in you

--> A walking meditation
Get out of your head and into your story (literally, lol). No transcendental chanting required

--> Daily thought-provoking exercises (5 days a week)
Designed to guide your daily hour of writing and help you build the spine of your story

--> A process you can use again and again
This isn’t just about this book, it's a toolkit for all your future beginnings

This is for you if:

• You’re starting something new and want to do it right this time
• You’ve got a spark but no structure
• You write better with prompts, support, and accountability
• You want to avoid the write-10K-words, delete-9K trap
• You’re 20K words in and quietly panicking

BONUS: Get two free video lessons on story structure + character from my DRAFT LAB course with your enrolment

By the end of 5 weeks, you’ll have:

--> A fleshed-out story that actually holds together
--> A clear, flexible path forward
--> An outline that works with your creativity, not against it

Investment: $397 AUD (EARLY BIRD INTRODUCTORY PRICE)

That’s five weeks to a finished story plan—for less than a weekend writing retreat

Starts Tuesday 29th July

First live call: 12pm AEST

Questions? Doubts?

Not sure if you’re too early, too messy, or too stuck?
You’re not! That’s exactly the point of this course

What people have said about my other course, The Inner Game of Writing

'I'm a published novelist seven times over- some of those books have even been published in the US and the UK too. You'd think I'd be a swaggering ball of confidence, wouldn't you?... I loved what I've got from The Inner Game of Writing... Better yet, I love that I can go back to it any time or whenever that mean voice starts up again. It's been a great investment in my writing sanity and I couldn't recommend it more highly.' - Kylie Ladd

'Completed the course this afternoon and it feels like I've had a complete motivation reset! Had a pretty awful rejection on book 2 late last year and I'm about to gather all my courage to go in for book three. Focusing on the journey! Thanks Katherine, your words really have given my heart. You're doing the Goddess' work!' - Published author

'I am absolutely loving it - exactly what I need at this point of my process! I’m scribbling so many notes and have no doubt I will revisit it regularly. Well done, it's brilliant x - (a different) Published author

'Firing up my morning routine with an episode of The Inner Game of Writing and 'The Stories Writers Tell Themselves' but the insightful -- and frequently hilarious -- Katherine Collette. Highly recommend. Five stars.' - Anne Farrell

Who's running this show?

Hi! I'm Katherine Collette

I write books, draw cartoons and used to co-host The First Time podcast.

I’m also a writing coach.

Across all stages of my writing life, from hopeless to emerging to debut and beyond, I’ve wanted someone on my corner. Someone that had done the things I wanted to do, to be invested in me and my career, to provide advice and feedback on my specific situation.

Now, having published multiple books here and overseas, interviewed 100+ debut/best selling/award winning writers on writing, publication and the head game of a writer, I’m that person for other people.

I help writers wanting to be published and writers who are about to be published know what to do to give themselves and their work the best possible chance of success.
